Clear Lake Roundup: Clear Creek out to stay unbeaten in 24-5A
Clear Creek football puts its perfect District 24-5A record on the line against defending state champion Pearland this week, and Wildcats coach Darrell Warden knows his team will face more than just the current Oilers. Senior quarterback Austin Smith had another solid outing against Brazoswood completing 11-of-16 for 108 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions while working behind an offensive line of seniors Brent Wagner, Cory Zunker and Jacob Arredondo, junior Daniel Williams and sophomore Myles Becnal Junior quarterback Jacob Garner had his best game as an Oiler starter throwing for 195 yards and three touchdowns on 10-of-13 passing and running for two scores and 56 yards against Dickinson last week. First place showdown Both teams started the week with only one district loss and the winner will take over sole possession of the league lead, while the loser moves into a second-place deadlock with Clear Lake.
