A May 1 ribbon-cutting ceremony officially christened the opening of Repsdorph Road after $16 million worth of improvements.
Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Morman, Seabrook Mayor Glenn Royal and El Lago Mayor Brad Emel did the ribbon-cutting honors in an event that was sponsored by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce and emceed by Joe Mayer, chairman of the board.
The project, which took 13 months to complete and added two new lanes to the existing road including underground utilities and new sidewalks, was funded between NASA Parkway to Bayport Boulevard by the cities of El Lago and Seabrook.
"I'm very proud to work with our partner cities and mayors on thoroughfare and road improvements," said Morman in a news release. "We all have limited budgets but are able to accomplish much more by working together to serve our fellow constituents."
Morman added that the project was also able to add a link to Lakeside Drive that will allow traffic to Red Bluff Road that is "very important for good traffic flow throughout southeast Harris County."
