Seven Clear Lake-area runners complete Funfest Run by the Bay 5K

Seven Clear Lake-area runners completed the Funfest Run by the Bay 5K on Saturday, June 9 in Texas City.

Three runners from Galveston participated in the race. Anne Brasier, 58, completed the race in 29:46; Don Henderson, 76, crossed the finish line in 31:50; and Dan Jackson, 48, took 39:00.

The Friendswood runners are John Moyer, 55, who completed the race in 21:41; Mark Garvin, 49, who crossed the finish line in 25:35; and Tracey Harper, 44, who took 27:58.

Brittany Harper, 24, of Webster completed the race in 33:17.

A total of 235 runners finished the 5K race, which was held at Bay Street Park near the Texas City Dike.

Mahta Mesfun of Houston was the men's overall winner with a time of 15:35, while Astrid Horstman, 32, was the women's winner in 21:05.
