Deer Park Lumber awarded business of the year
The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce named Deer Park Lumber its business of the year.
W.D. Lawther bought the struggling company in 1955. Two years later, it became Deer Park Lumber Co.
The small lumber yard, now sitting on seven acres at 1600 Center St., employs 50.
Lawther’s grandsons Jeff and Warren now run the business, which mainly provides lumber to industries along the shipping channel.
