Sallie Mae Kids2College fund recognizes UH-Clear Lake
The Sallie Mae Fund's Kids2College program recently recognized University of Houston-Clear Lake for organizing an event that invites sixth-graders to spend a day at college.
Since 1992, the Sallie Mae Kids2College initiative has helped more than 70,000 low-income and minority students discover college.
"This kind of academic outreach is extremely important to help inspire the next generation and inform them that higher education can help them achieve their dreams," said Alvin Johnson, UH-Clear Lake coordinator of academic transfer advising, according to the release.
This year, UH-Clear Lake plans to host more than 500 students from Schneider Middle School of Pasadena Independent School District.
