Area runners complete Run Wild 5K
Nine Clear Lake-area runners completed the Run Wild 5K on July 4 in Houston.
The Galveston runners are Althea Tupper, 26, who crossed the finish line in 23:15, and Jessica Lewis, 27, who took 33:54.
The Friendswood runners who participated in the race are Mario Melgar, 49, (25:23); Kevin Knupfer, 30, (26:35); Matt Lewis, 31, (29:14); Joan Propp, 59, (29:39); Cathie Nesrsta, 52, (30:57); Bobby Roe, 27, (31:47) and Maria Rivas, 49, (31:52).
A total of 1,287 runners finished the 5K race, which was held in Uptown Park. The proceeds of the race will benefit Special Olympics Texas.
Sean Wade was the men's overall winner with a time of 15:38, while Megan Siebert was the women's winner in 18:10.
