Friendswood participants complete Kiwanis Kids Triathlon

Ten participants from Friendswood completed the Kiwanis Kids Triathlon on June 30 in Pearland.

The Friendswood participants were Xander Zerr, 9, (10:52); Cameron McIntyre, 9, (12:12); Colin Janis, 8, (12:58); Kennedy Freyer, 9, (13:35); Xander Nabors, 9, (15:03); Claire Mayfield, 7, (17:07); Ross Lincecum, 12, (17:21); Bryson Zerr, 6, (17:48); Nick Schwartz, 9, (19:57); and Joshua Janis, 11, (21:25).

A total of 120 participants completed the race. The race course for kids born in 2003 to 2005 (7 to 9 years old) is comprised of a 50-meter swim, a 1-mile bike ride, and a ¼-mile run.  For kids born in 2000 to 2002 (10-12 years old), the race course is comprised of a 100-meter swim, 2-mile bike ride, and a ½-mile run.

Kaytlynn Welsch, of Alvin, was the overall winner for the kids born in 2000 to 2002 with a time of 13:23, while Olivia Howard, of Houston, was the overall winner for the participants born in 2003 to 2005 with a time of 8:57.
