Studio Movie Grill announces plans for League City location
League City's plan to establish an entertainment district is beginning to take shape.
Anchoring the city's plan is Dallas-based Studio Movie Grill, who will build its 12th location near League City's Victory Lakes Town Center at the corner of I-45 and Victory Lakes Drive.
"We are very pleased to welcome Studio Movie Grill to League City," Mayor Tim Paulissen said in a press release. "The new theater is a win-win for our community, from the creation of new jobs, to a new attraction to shape our entertainment district, and a place within our own city where residents and visitors can enjoy dinner and a movie."
"Studio Movie Grill's plan is a great asset to our community, it could mean a 9 million dollar investment into League City, increased sales tax revenue and a great anchor to draw more businesses into the community," said Mike Loftin, League City's City Manager, in the release.
Studio Movie Grill offers visitors a state of the art movie and dining experience with a spacious auditorium, high-end lounge chairs and dining tables. It offers a menu of more than 100 items from popcorn and candy to gourmet pizza and specialty cocktails, according to the release.
"We couldn't be more excited about bringing this expansion to the League City," said Brian Schultz, SMGs founder and president, in the release. "We think our customers will be excited to see the major improvements we've made; enhancements to our brand that will ultimately be integrated into all our Texas locations."
One improvement is Studio Movie Grill's new 100 percent reserved seating model. Reserved seating will be available online, in advance or at the box office with tickets starting at $5.
In addition to Studio Movie Grill, Jimmy Changas, part of the Houston based restaurant group behind Gringos and Bullritos, has already broken ground on a new League City location near the proposed site of Studio Movie Grill near Victory Lakes Town Center.
