League City Rec Department offering youth karate classes

The League City Parks and Recreation Department is offering youth and adult karate classes for the fall.

Programs are available for beginning students through experienced Black Belts, teaching the self-defense aspects of American karate.

Beginners and advanced classes for ages 5-12 and 13-70 will be available at the Fitness Center at South Shore Harbor, 3000 Invincible CIrcle. These classes take place Fridays from Sept. 14 through Dec. 7.

The beginners will meet from 6-7 p.m., the advanced youth class from 7-8 p.m. and the teens and adults class from 8-9 p.m. No classes will be held Thanksgiving week.

Locations have yet to be determined for two more available karate sessions in the fall. A Monday class will be offered from Sept. 10 through Dec. 3 and a Wednesday class will be offered from Sept. 12 through Dec. 5.

Registration will take place at the class location and is open until the third class of the session. The cost is $50 for the entire 12-week session and an additional $30 for a uniform.
